This article was previously published under Q131228 SYMPTOMS
When you promote or demote a paragraph's Heading Style format in a table by
using shortcut keys, other paragraphs in the table are also unexpectedly
affected.
This behavior has several variations:
- In a cell that contains multiple paragraphs, if you promote or demote a paragraph's Heading Style format, all the paragraphs in the cell are also promoted or demoted.
- When all the paragraphs in the table are formatted with Normal style,
and you promote or demote one paragraph's Heading Style format, all the
cells in the row are promoted or demoted.
Shortcut keys for promoting a paragraph are ALT+SHIFT+RIGHT ARROW (Windows)
or OPTION+SHIFT+RIGHT ARROW (Macintosh); to demote a paragraph, use
ALT+SHIFT+LEFT ARROW or OPTION+SHIFT+LEFT ARROW (Macintosh)
WORKAROUND
Rather than using keystrokes to change a table paragraph's heading level,
apply the appropriate style from the Format menu or using the Formatting
toolbar.
