PRJ: Inaccurate Shading of Nonworking Time (130964)

In scaled views such as the Gantt chart, the nonworking time shading may be
drawn incorrectly when there are large areas of consecutive nonworking
time. Some areas, especially at the ends of the nonworking time, may be
displayed as working time (that is, not shaded). In addition, when you
scroll the Gantt chart, Microsoft Project may have problems redrawing the
screen. These problems will occur both when you print a document or when
you view it in print preview.
CAUSE
The mechanism that draws nonworking time assumes that there are 31 days in each month. Because this assumption is not true, there are cases where the nonworking shading will be drawn incorrectly.
RESOLUTION
When you are dealing with large areas of nonworking time, and when you view
a monthly timescale, turn off shading. To do this, use the following steps:
- In a Gantt Chart view, choose Timescale from the
Format menu.
- Select the Nonworking Time tab.
- Under Draw, select the Do Not Draw option, and choose
OK.
STATUS
Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the versions of Microsoft
Project listed above.
