SUMMARY

When you the Dial This Number command, Works returns the message:
Lift the handset and choose OK to talk
In version 3.0x, the following is added to the message:
Works has successfully dialed the highlighted phone number. Lift the handset to start the conversation."
This message erroneously appears in one or more of the following circumstances:
  • No modem is present.
  • Works cannot initialize the modem.
  • Wrong COM port is selected.
  • No phone number is highlighted.
  • Text is highlighted.
  • Phone line/dial tone is not present.
  • Carrier is interrupted.

When you use the Dial This Number command, Works sends the information you have highlighted to your communications port. The Works modem port setting tells the application which COM port to use. No other checking is performed.

To check your Modem Port settings do the following:
  1. In Works 3.0, 3.0a, and 3.0b, from the Tools menu, choose Options. -or-

  2. In Works 2.0x, from the Options menu, choose Works Settings.
