SYMPTOMS

In Microsoft Project, if you click the menu bar after resetting the Standard menu bar, Microsoft Project may quit unexpectedly if the Menu Bar Definition dialog box is still open.

CAUSE

This behavior occurs for example if you edit the Standard menu bar, and then click the Apple menu while the Menu Bar Definition dialog box is still open. This problem only occurs if the Standard menu bar is the active menu bar in Microsoft Project. For example, if you apply a custom menu bar, and you then reset the Standard menu bar, this problem does not occur when you click on the menu bar while the Menu Bar Definition dialog box is open.

WORKAROUND

To work around this problem, close the Menu Bar Definition dialog box after you restore the menu bar (do this before you click the menu bar or choose any item on the menu bar, such as the Apple menu, or the Help menu).

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
