QEMM QuickBoot May Cause Computer to Hang (127915)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Windows 98
- Microsoft Windows 95
This article was previously published under Q127915 SYMPTOMS
When you boot your computer in MS-DOS mode (either from the Shut Down
Windows dialog box or from the properties for an MS-DOS-based application)
with Quarterdeck's QEMM, the computer may stop responding (hang). When
this occurs, you must turn the computer off and back on to resume normal
functioning.
CAUSE
The QEMM QuickBoot feature does not operate correctly in Windows.
WORKAROUND
To work around this problem, disable the QuickBoot feature. To disable
QuickBoot, add the parameter "BOOTENABLE:N" to the QEMM386.SYS line in the
CONFIG.SYS file. For example, after you add this parameter the line might
look like:
DEVICE=<path>\QEMM386.SYS BOOTENABLE:N
