Works: Slow Printing or No Output on LANtastic Network (127101)

If you are running on an Artisoft LANtastic network, you may experience slow printing or no output from Works for Windows. The problem may be noticeable when printing from a server-workstation terminal.
RESOLUTION
Increase the Characters Per Second option for the printer resources.
This setting controls the minimum number of characters per second that the server will attempt to send to the printer. This value ranges from 0 to 32767. LANtastic recommends setting the value to 9600 when working in the Microsoft Windows environment. However, the setting is 0 by default. This setting should be changed for all shared printer resources.

When you run Works for Windows on a server-workstation computer, the print request is handled as a network request, even if the printer is connected locally. Because the server must allocate a certain amount of CPU time to execute both local and network requests, the print request may take longer to carry out, or appear not to be carried out at all. By increasing the Characters per Second option for a given printer resource, the network gives print requests a higher priority, to maintain the Characters Per Second value while printing.
