How To Enable Ghosted Connections in Windows NT (127018)

When you use Remote Access Services (RAS) you have the option to disable automatic restoration of network connections at logon (known as ghosted connections.) If you do not install RAS, you can enable ghosted connections. To do so:

Run Registry Editor (Regedt32.exe).
Locate the following registry subkey:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\NetworkProvider
Click Add Value on the Edit menu.
Enter the following values:
Value Name: RestoreConnection
Data Type: REG_DWORD
Value: 0 or 1
Setting this value to 0 causes Windows NT to ghost the connections.
Quit Registry Editor and restart Windows NT.
