This article was previously published under Q126811 SYMPTOMS
In Microsoft Project, when you use the Set As Default button on the General tab in the Options dialog box, the values in the Default Standard Rate and the Default Overtime Rate boxes may not be used as the default when you create a new project.
CAUSE
This behavior occurs if you do not edit the value in the Default Standard Rate box and the Default Overtime Rate box before you choose the Set As Default button in the Options dialog box.
For example, if you change the value in the Default Standard Rate box and the Default Overtime Rate box for your project (not using the Set As Default button), and you close the Options dialog box, if you then display the Options dialog box, and choose the Set As Default button on the General tab of the Options dialog box, without changing the value in either the Default Standard Rate box or the Default Overtime Rate box, the values are not used as the default values in a new project.
The values in the Default Standard Rate and Default Overtime Rate boxes are not set as the default for new projects unless you modify the values in the appropriate boxes before you choose the Set As Default button.
Note that this problem does not occur when you use the Set As Default button on the Calendar tab or the Schedule tab in the Options dialog box.
WORKAROUND
To set a default standard rate or overtime rate for new projects, modify
the values in the Default Standard Rate box and the Default Overtime Rate box before you choose the Set As Default button. If either of these boxes already contains the value you want to set as the default, you can simply type an additional character in the box, and then delete that character. This modification will ensure that the value will be saved as a default value.
STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article. REFERENCES
