- Microsoft Works 3.0b
This article was previously published under Q126294 SYMPTOMS
When you type a number with more than 11 digits into the Number field
of the Credit Cards template, the number may appear in scientific
notation, for example 1.23457E+11.
CAUSE
This problem occurs because the Number field has been formatted as General.
RESOLUTION
To correct this problem, change the format of the Number field to
Text, using the following steps:
- Open the Credit Cards Template and select the Number field.
NOTE: The Credit Cards Template is located in the Autostart Personal
template group, in the Personal Finances category.
- From the Format menu, choose Number.
- Select the Text format and choose OK.
MORE INFORMATION
This procedure of changing the number format will not affect numbers
that have already been entered into the Number field. Therefore, the
field format should be changed prior to entering any credit card
number with more than 11 digits, or the number should be re-entered.
