ACC2: Service Pack Installs MSAJU200.DLL in SYSTEM Subdirectory (124813)

This article was previously published under Q124813 Novice: Requires knowledge of the user interface on single-user computers.
SYMPTOMS
When you install the Microsoft Access version 2.0 Service Pack, the
MSAJU200.DLL file is copied into the Windows\SYSTEM subdirectory instead of
the ACCESS directory as it should be.
RESOLUTION
The MSAJU200.DLL file that is included with the Service Pack contains only
a minor modification to correct a text import/export problem. This problem
occurs only if you import or export text that contains extended ASCII
characters (characters with an ASCII value greater than 128). If you import
or export text that contains such characters, copy the newer MSAJU200.DLL
file from the Windows\SYSTEM subdirectory to the ACCESS directory. The
newer MSAJU200.DLL file is dated 11/20/94, with a size of 98,032 bytes.
STATUS
Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft Access
version 2.0 Service Pack. We are researching this problem and will post new
information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.
MORE INFORMATION
Microsoft Access uses the MSAJU200.DLL file for import and export
operations. Microsoft Access will first look for this file in the Access
directory, and if it finds the file in the ACCESS directory it will use it,
regardless of the version number. If Microsoft Access does not find the
MSAJU200.DLL file in the Access directory, it will look in the Windows
directory, and then the Windows\System subdirectory for the file. This will
sometimes cause the older version of the file (dated 4/5/94, with a size of
98,112 bytes) to be found, rather than the newer version installed by the
Service Pack.
