This article was previously published under Q124784 SYMPTOMS
When you import a file from Microsoft Excel 5.0 to Works 3.0, if a cell in
the Microsoft Excel worksheet contains multiple fonts, font sizes, or
styles such as bold and italics, you will lose the data in that cell.
RESOLUTION
To resolve this problem, follow the appropriate method below:
Method 1:
Update your version of Works to Works for Windows 3.0a or 3.0b
to correct the problem. You will not need to save the file in a
different format; however, when you open the file in Works, each
cell will be formatted to the first font and style of the cell.
Method 2:
If you are unable to obtain an updated version of Works, save the
file from Microsoft Excel in a .WKS format before you import it
into Works 3.0. The data will be retained, but the entire
spreadsheet will be formatted to the Works default font.
STATUS
Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products
listed at the beginning of this article. This problem was corrected in
Microsoft Works for Windows versions 3.0a and 3.0b.
