Works: Random Tutorial Problems Using Cirrus Logic Video (123952)

SYMPTOMS

When using a Cirrus-Logic video driver, Works may have the following problems using the Tutorial:

  • Random hangs
  • Lost pages when printing
  • Other printing problems
  • General protection faults
  • Sound gaps when playing animations/videos
This has been reported with the following Cirrus Logic drivers:

  • CL-G 5426-28 V1.32 640x480x256 colors
  • CL5428 640x480x256 colors (installed on some COMPAQ computers)

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, install the VGA driver that comes with Windows, or use one of the following methods.

Update the Cirrus Logic Drivers

Contact Cirrus Logic to inquire about how to obtain and install the latest video drivers.

Install SVGA Drivers

Install the 256 color generic Super VGA (SVGA) driver included with Windows 3.11 and Windows for Workgroups 3.11.
