This article was previously published under Q122498 SYMPTOMS
If you are running the Microsoft Office Manager (MOM) on your computer the
COMMAND+TAB key combination does not activate the menu bar as expected in
Word for the Macintosh. Instead, when you press COMMAND+TAB in Word, task-
switching occurs instead.
CAUSE
The Enable QuickSwitch option is turned on within the Microsoft Office
Manager. By design, the MOM Enable QuickSwitch option overrides the
COMMAND+TAB key combination in Word for the Macintosh.
WORKAROUND
To work around this behavior, use either of the following methods.
Method 1
When the Enable QuickSwitch option is turned on, press F10 to activate menu
mode in Word. In Word 5.0 or 5.1x, press CTRL+[ to activate menu mode.
Method 2
If you don't need the MOM Enable QuickSwitch functionality, turn off this
option by following these steps:
- Click the Microsoft Office button on the MOM toolbar, or Macintosh
menubar.
- On the menu that appears, click Customize.
- Click to clear the Enable QuickSwitch check box.
- Close the Office Customize dialog box.
