SUMMARY

Works version 2.0 allows the simultaneous use of both Freeze Titles and Split Panes.

However, in Works 3.0, 4.0, 4.5, or 4.5a, Split Panes and Freeze Titles cannot be used simultaneously. Enabling either horizontal or vertical Split Panes turns off Freeze Titles. Similarly, selecting Freeze Titles while Split Panes are in use turns off the Split Panes and freezes the titles at the point the panes were split.

This behavior is by design.

Steps to Reproduce Behavior

Works for Windows 2.0

  1. Create a new spreadsheet document.
  2. Select Cell B1.
  3. From the Options menu, click Freeze Titles.
  4. From the Window menu, click Split and position a vertical split between columns D and E.
  5. Using the horizontal scroll bar, move the columns in both windows.
RESULT: The Freeze Title columns remain frozen in the left split.

Works 3.0, 4.0, 4.5, and 4.5a

  1. Create a new spreadsheet document.
  2. Select Cell B1.
  3. From the Format menu, click Freeze Titles.
  4. From the Window menu, click Split.
RESULT: The Freeze Titles marker (a thin line) has been replaced with the split pane marker (a thick line), and selecting the Format menu shows that Freeze Titles is no longer selected. Note that manually positioning the split pane marker with the mouse also turns off the Freeze Titles option.

If Freeze Titles is selected again, the Split Panes position now become the Freeze Titles boundary.
