SUMMARY

A single field in Works 2.0 and 3.0 is limited to 255 characters. You can work around this limitation by placing two fields, one main field with a memo field, next to each other in the form using the following steps:

  1. In a database form, create Field 1: with the desired width and height.
  2. Create Field 2: directly below Field 1: with the same dimensions.
  3. Click the label for Field 2. From the Format menu, click Show Field Name to remove the check mark.
  4. From the Format menu (Works 3.0) or the Options menu (Works 2.0), click Snap To Grid to remove the check mark so the fields will move freely.
  5. Select Field 2 and drag it directly below Field 1.
Now, you can type in Field 1 until you have entered the maximum of 255 characters. Once you reach the end of the field, press ENTER and then press TAB to move to Field 2 to continue typing your information.
