Artist: Saved Documents Are Black (120546)

When you save a picture Fine Artist and then open it, the picture may
be solid black.
CAUSE
This behavior can occur if the display color palette is set to High Color
(16-bit) or True Color (24-bit or 32-bit).
NOTE: In Microsoft Windows 3.1x, a High Color driver may also be labeled as
a 32,768 (32k) color or a 65536 (64k or 65k) color driver, and a True Color
driver may also be labeled as a 16.7 million color driver.
RESOLUTION
To resolve this issue, change the display color palette to 256 colors. To
do so, use the appropriate method for your version of Microsoft Windows.
Windows 95/98
To change the display color palette to 256 colors in Microsoft Windows 98,
follow these steps:
- Click Start, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.
- Double-click Display.
- In the Colors box on the Settings tab, click 256 Colors.
- Click OK.
- When you are prompted to restart the computer, click Yes.
Windows 95
To change the display color palette to 256 colors in Microsoft Windows 95,
follow these steps:
- Click Start, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.
- Double-click Display.
- In the Color Palette box on the Settings tab, click 256 Colors.
- Click OK.
- When you are prompted to restart the computer, click Yes.
Windows 3.1x
To change the display color palette to 256 colors in Windows 3.1x, follow
these steps:
- Make a copy of the SYSTEM.INI file. This file is located in the Windows
folder. To do so, follow these steps:
- In the Main group in Program Manager, double-click MS-DOS Prompt.
- At the MS-DOS prompt, type copy system.ini system.mts, and then press ENTER.
- At the MS-DOS prompt, type exit, and then
press ENTER.
- In the Main group in Program Manager, double-click Windows Setup.
- On the Display line, note the current video driver.
- On the Options menu, click Change System Settings.
- In the list of video drivers, click the 256 color version of the driver
you noted in step 3, and then click OK.
- Follow the directions on the screen to install the new video driver.
- When you are prompted to restart Windows, do so.
