SYMPTOMS

The first print preview of a Database report after adding the Wrap Text format to a field may not display data completely for that field.

RESOLUTION

Make sure all of the following conditions apply to the report:
  1. The entire row of data is formatted as Wrapped Text.
  2. The alignment for the entire row is set to General.
  3. The vertical alignment is set to Top.
  4. You may need to manually increase the row height to fit in the largest piece of data.

MORE INFORMATION

The row height is not adjusted when the Wrap Text format is selected in report view. Therefore, print preview will not show newly formatted Wrap Text fields wrapped correctly. Choosing Cancel in print preview causes Works to resize the wrapped field correctly.

Steps to Reproduce Problem

  1. Create a new Works database and change to list view.
  2. Type enough text in the first cell of the first record to cause it to cover at least two columns to the right. Press ENTER.
  3. From the Tools menu, choose Create New Report and the Create Report dialog box will appear.
  4. Choose Add All, then choose OK to clear the Create Report dialog box. Choose OK to clear the Report Statistics dialog box.
  5. Click in the cell that contains the data entered in Step 2. From the Format menu, choose Alignment. Select the Wrap text check box and choose OK.
  6. From the File menu, choose Print Preview.

NOTE: Only part of the text entered in step 2 is displayed.
To correct this problem:
  1. After following steps 1-6 above, choose Cancel.
  2. From the File menu, choose Print Preview.
Notice that the information displays correctly now.
