SUMMARY

If you press the OPTION key while you start Word for the Macintosh, Word starts without displaying "Tip of the Day." This is the equivalent of starting Word with the /W startup switch.

If you press the SHIFT key while you start Word, the program starts without any global templates (including NORMAL.DOT), add-ins, or the Word Settings (6) file. This is the equivalent of starting Word with the /A switch.

To use either key as a startup switch, double-click the Word application icon and then immediately press and hold the SHIFT or OPTION key.
