SYMPTOMS

When you update a reference to bookmarked text or to an ASK field that has been formatted as hidden, the reference field result is also formatted as hidden text.

CAUSE

By design, the format applied to the bookmarked text or the ASK field is acquired by the result.

WORKAROUND

To work around this problem, use any of the following methods:

  • Remove the Hidden attribute from the ASK field or the bookmarked text. -or-

  • Use the \* CHARFORMAT switch on the reference field to apply the formatting of the field type's first character to the entire result. In the following example, you would select the "r" in "ref" and format the "r" as not hidden to produce a result that is not hidden:

    {ref name \* charformat}
