This article was previously published under Q118391 SYMPTOMS
You may receive a general protection (GP) fault when playing a video
(*.AVI) clip in the applications listed at the top of this article. This
can occur if the Diamond SpeedStar 64 control panel is installed. This
control panel conflicts with the [MCI] Microsoft Video for Windows (MCIAVI)
driver. As a result, the problem may occur in any multimedia application
that uses the MCIAVI driver.
Microsoft is researching this problem and will post new information
here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.
This problem has not been reproduced in Windows 95.
RESOLUTION
To resolve this problem, you must remove the Diamond SpeedStar 64
control panel from the Windows Control Panel group.
