SYMPTOMS

If the option for the WorksWizards is not installed on your system or is removed during a Maintenance mode setup, the following error message occurs when you create a new document for the first time or attempt to use the Cue Cards:
Cannot start Cue Cards.
Works cannot find the files required to run Cue Cards. Run Setup again.

RESOLUTION

Run the Maintenance mode setup of Works and install the WorksWizards.

Steps to Reproduce Problem

  1. Run a complete setup for Works and restart your computer.
  2. In the MS Works For Windows program group, double-click the Microsoft Works Setup icon.
  3. In the Works 3.0 Setup dialog box, choose the Add/Remove button.
  4. Clear the WorksWizards check box and choose Continue. Choose Yes to verify removing the component.
  5. Complete Setup. You should be returned to Windows.
  6. Start Works and create a new document.
  7. From the Help menu, choose Cue Cards.
The "Cannot start Cue Cards" error message occurs.
