SUMMARY

This article explains the changes that are made to an investment after the shares are split.

MORE INFORMATION

Money makes the following updates to your investment information when entering a stock split:
  1. The price and quantity of every investment transaction before the split date is modified based on the split ratio. Totals and commissions of such transactions are unchanged.
  2. For each transaction in the register that has a date before that of any split for the investment, the letter "s" is appended to the price field of the transaction. This indicates that the item was affected by a split.

NOTE: If you later enter or edit a transaction that occurred before the date of the split, an "s" is automatically appended to the price field. However, the price and quantity for the transaction must be entered as though the split has already occurred.
  3. Every entry in the price history before the split date is modified based on the split ratio.
  4. For each account that has a fractional balance of shares after the split, if you have elected to convert the fractional shares to cash, Money will enter a sell transaction in that account on the split date for the split price and for the fractional quantity of shares. The transfer account will be set to the cash account if one exists, otherwise it is left blank.
  5. Any price history entry on the date of the split will be treated as a price given after the split has taken place. Therefore, register transactions on the split date will not show an "s" in the price field.
