An index displays and prints incorrect page ranges. This occurs when two or
more index entry (XE) fields for the same subject include separate bookmark
references that appear on the same page, even though the bookmarks do not
overlap.
STATUS
Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Word versions 2.x, 6.x, 95
and 97 for Windows. We are researching this problem and will post new
information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.
WORKAROUND
Manually edit the index by converting it to normal text. To do this,
position the insertion point in the index and press CTRL+SHIFT+F9 or
CTRL+6. The drawback to using this method is that the index is no longer a
field, and you will not be able to update it.
