PRJ: Title, Subject, Keywords Are Not Saved in Embedded Files (116459)

SYMPTOMS

When you embed a Microsoft Project 4.0 document in another application, entries in the Title, Subject, and Keywords fields of the Summary Info dialog box are not saved.

CAUSE

The Title, Subject, and Keywords fields were added to the Microsoft Project 4.0 file format, but were not included in the Embedded Object file format.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.

Steps to Reproduce Behavior

  1. Enter two tasks in a new project.
  2. From the File menu, choose Summary Info, and select the Document tab.

    Fill in all the fields in the Summary Info dialog box and choose OK.
  3. From the Edit menu, choose Copy.
  4. Switch to Microsoft Excel or Microsoft Word.
  5. From the Edit menu, choose Paste Special.
  6. Select Microsoft Project 4.0 Project Object and choose OK.
  7. Double-click the Microsoft Project object in Word or Excel.

    Double-clicking the object will activate Microsoft Project.
  8. In Microsoft Project, from the File menu, choose Summary Info.
The Title, Subject, and Keywords fields will be blank.
