SYMPTOMS

When you run a query against a Microsoft Access database from Microsoft Word for Windows, Microsoft Excel, or Microsoft Query, you receive the error message "Obsolete Database Format."

CAUSE

You have not selected the correct database type.

RESOLUTION

If you are trying to query against a Microsoft Access 1.x database, change the database type from Access 2.0 Database to Access Database.

If you are trying to query against a Microsoft Access 2.0 database, change the database type from Access Database to Access 2.0 Database.
