SYMPTOMS

If you have Service Pack 2 installed and have a modem connected to COM2, your modem may dial slowly, buffer overflow messages may appear, and the modem software may stop operating. These problems occur when you are using a 16-bit MS-DOS - based application.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Windows NT and Windows NT Advanced Server version 3.1. This problem has been corrected in the latest U.S. Service Pack for Windows NT and Windows NT Advanced Server version 3.1.
