ACC: "Show Direct Relationships" Button Seems to Do Nothing (114213)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Access 2.0
- Microsoft Access for Windows 95 7.0
This article was previously published under Q114213 Novice: Requires knowledge of the user interface on single-user computers.
SYMPTOMS
When you click the Show Direct Relationships button, or click Show Direct
on the Relationships menu while viewing the relationships in your database,
nothing seems to happen.
CAUSE
Microsoft Access does not clear the Relationships window before displaying
the direct relationships. Instead, Microsoft Access continues to display
the current relationships, in addition to the direct relationships.
RESOLUTION
To view only the direct relationships for a table, follow these steps:
- Click Clear Layout on the Edit menu in the Relationships window.
- On the Relationships menu, click Show Table (or Add Table in version
2.0). Select the table whose relationships you want to see, click Add,
and then click Close.
- Click the Show Direct Relationships button on the toolbar, or click
Show Direct on the Relationships menu.
MORE INFORMATION
To display all the table and query relationships defined in the database,
click Show All on the Relationships menu.
You can save the layout you create in the Relationships window by choosing
Save from the File menu (or Save Layout in version 2.0).
Users of a shared database can save individual layouts. Only one layout per
user can be saved. If you save a layout in a shared database, your last
saved layout will be overwritten.
