MORE INFORMATION

Steps to Reproduce Problem

  1. Create a new Communications and a new Word Processor document in Works.
  2. Switch to the Communications document and dial the number of an online service.

NOTE: This step assumes that all the Communications settings in Works (COM port, baud rate, and so on) are set correctly.
  3. While the modem is dialing, quickly switch to the Word Processor and type some text.

NOTE: The Dialing Status dialog box will still be displayed on the screen.
  4. Choose the Cancel button in the Dialing Status dialog box.
  5. A GP fault occurs in MSWORKS.EXE.
Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Works version 3.0 for Windows. We are researching this problem and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.
