Works: Text in Draw Object Prints Larger than on Screen (113926)

This article was previously published under Q113926 SYMPTOMS
If you create a text object in Draw and frame it by drawing a box around
it, it may appear that the text fits in the frame on the screen in Draw
and in your Works document. However, you may find that when you print your
document, or look in Print Preview, the text no longer fits in its
frame.
If the text is formatted for a small point size, a sizable blank area
may be left between the right edge of the text and the right edge of its
frame. If the text is formatted for a large point size (such as 36 point
or larger), the text may hang over the right edge of the frame.
This problem occurs if the font you use in Draw is System.
Unfortunately, System is the default font in Draw.
In other applications, such as Microsoft Word for Windows and Microsoft
Publisher, the text in the Draw object displays within the application
the way it displays in Print Preview or when printed.
Microsoft is researching this problem and will post new information here
in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.
RESOLUTION
To avoid this problem, select a different font supported by your printer
for the Draw text object. To select a different font for your Draw text
object, follow these steps:
- In your Works document, double-click your Draw object to open it
in Draw.
- Click the text object so that it has black selection boxes at the
corners.
- From the Text menu, choose Font.
- From the list of fonts, select one that is supported by your printer
and choose OK.
- If necessary, resize either the frame or the text so that they fit
correctly.
- From the File menu, choose Exit And Return to your document.
- Choose Yes when the Microsoft Draw Update dialog box appears.
Your printed output should now match your screen more closely.
