SUMMARY

If you have a template set as the default template for a particular Works for Windows Word Processor, Spreadsheet, Database, or Communications module, it will automatically load the same file each time you create a new file for that module.

MORE INFORMATION

There are two ways to disable the default template in Works 3.0. Try one of the following workarounds.

Workaround 1

  1. From the File menu, choose Template.
  2. From the Use A Template box, select a template for the appropriate module.
  3. Select the Use This Template For All New <Module Name> Documents box, where <Module Name> is the name of the module.
  4. Choose OK to open the Template.
  5. From the File menu, choose Template.
  6. Clear the Use This Template For All New <Module Name> Documents box that you selected in step 3.

Workaround 2

  1. Close Works if it is running.
  2. Open the MSWORKS3.INI file (in the Windows directory) in a text editor such as Notepad.
  3. In the [Template Section] of the file, delete anything after the equal sign (=) of the entry listed below, for the module you want to disable:
          Word Processor : DefaultWP=
          Spreadsheet : DefaultSS=
          Database : DefaultDB=
          Communications : DefaultCM=

  4. Save the file and exit the text editor.
The template no longer automatically attaches to your new files.
