SYMPTOMS
In Microsoft Project, when you print a project, you may receive any of the following errors:
In Microsoft Project 4.x:
There is nothing to print
In Microsoft Project 98:
The current project is too large to fit on the specified number of pages. Microsoft Project has set the printer scaling to 10 percent and will print your project at 10 percent of normal size.
followed by:
There is no data for you to print.
Most likely, the filter applied to your view or report does not display any tasks or resources. Microsoft Project does not print views or report on which no tasks or resorces are displayed.
CAUSE
This behavior may occur if you use the
Pages From option in the
Print dialog box, before you set the
Fit To option on the
Page tab of the
Page Setup dialog box.
When you print your project file, and you use the
Fit To option on
the
Page tab of the
Page Setup dialog box, the number of pages you enter for the width and height apply to the entire project, even if you previously used the
Pages From option in the
Print dialog box to print a selected number of pages.
You can choose either
Print or
Page Setup from the
File menu, and you can access either dialog box from the other (that is, the
Print dialog box contains a
Page Setup button, and the
Page Setup dialog box contains a
Print button.) However, the order in which you choose the
Fit To option, or the
Pages From option, does not make a difference. The
Fit To option always applies to the entire project.
Steps to Reproduce Behavior
- In a new project, in row 1, enter a task, Task1. Select from row 1
to row 250. On the Edit menu, click Fill Down.
- On the File menu, click Page Setup, and then click the
Page tab.
- Under Scaling, click Fit To. In the Pages Wide
By box, type 1 and in the Tall box,
type 1. Click OK.
- On the File menu, click Print. Under Page Range,
click Pages. In the From box, type
2 and in the To box, type
3. Click OK.

In Microsoft Project 98 you will get the following error message:

pages. Microsoft Project has set the printer scaling to 10 percent and
