SYMPTOMS

In Microsoft Project, when you reset a task's percent complete to zero, and a fixed-cost resource has been assigned to that task, the resource's actual cost for that task is not reset to zero .

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.

Steps to Reproduce Behavior

  1. In a new project, enter a task, Task1, with duration 10d.
  2. Assign two resources, R1 and R2, to Task1.
  3. Change the units for resource R1 to 0 units, and enter a of fixed cost of $100 for the resource.
  4. In the Percent Complete box for the task, enter 100.

    Note that the Actual cost for the task has increased from $0 to $100.
  5. Reset the task's percent complete to zero.
Note that the Actual cost associated with the task is still $100.
