This article was previously published under Q113361 SYMPTOMS
In Microsoft Project, when you delete the individual occurrences of a
recurring task, and you then add non-recurring subordinate tasks to the remaining summary task, the Recurring Task Information dialog box appears when you select the Information button with the summary task
selected.
CAUSE
When you create a recurring task, the summary task that includes all of the
occurrences of the task retains the recurring status even if you delete the
individual occurrences of the task. This behavior is by design in Microsoft
Project. Because of this behavior, if you accidentally promote an individual occurrence of a recurring task, you can demote the task again
without losing the recurring task information.
WORKAROUND
To completely remove a recurring task from your project, delete the summary task as well as the individual occurrences of the recurring task.
