The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Works 3.0
- Microsoft Works 3.0, multimedia edition
- Microsoft Works 3.0a
- Microsoft Works 3.0b
This article was previously published under Q108885 SYMPTOMS
When a Works 2.0 Word Processor document is opened in Works 3.0x and an
envelope is created, choosing the Print button from the toolbar generates
the following message:
Convert old Works mailing labels to new Works for Windows 3.0 format?
You then have the option of choosing Yes or No. No should be chosen because
this is not a label document.
This message will appear even if you have already saved the file in the
Works 3.0 format. Once the file is saved, closed and reopened, the error
will no longer occur.
WORKAROUND
From the File menu, choose Print and the envelope(s) will print correctly.
RESOLUTION
To use the Print button from the toolbar for your envelopes, copy the
information from the body of the letter and paste it into a new Works 3.0
Word Processor document, then create a new envelope, as follows:
- Highlight only the letter portion of the document.
- From the Edit menu, choose Copy.
- From the File menu, choose Create New File and select Word Processor.
- From the Edit menu, choose Paste.
- Highlight the mailing address text or placeholders.
- From the Tools menu, choose Envelopes/Labels.
- Select the Envelope tab and choose Create Envelope.
You can now print your envelopes using the Print button on the toolbar.
