This article was previously published under Q102881 SYMPTOMS
When you are using the DEL command at the command prompt to delete all
the files in a directory, the following message appears:
*, Are you sure (Y/N)?
This anomaly occurs when you issue the command "DEL *.*" or "DEL ."
(without the quotation marks).
The message should actually read:
All files in this directory will be deleted. Are you sure (Y/N)?
STATUS
Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Windows NT version
3.1. We are researching this problem and will post new information
here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.
