WARNING: Using Registry Editor incorrectly can cause serious, system-wide
problems that may require you to reinstall Windows NT to correct them.
Microsoft cannot guarantee that any problems resulting from the use of
Registry Editor can be solved. Use this tool at your own risk.
When you are trying to save a Registry key from a remote machine's
Registry in Windows NT, the Save Key dialog box will display the local
hard disk even though it is not possible to save the key to the local
drive. If you do not have the Administrator privilege on the remote
machine, the following error message will occur:
Insufficient Privilege to Save the Key.
This error message also appears when you attempt to save the top level of
a
Registry key on the local machine because you need to move to the first
sublevel and save those keys.
STATUS
Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Windows NT version 3.1
and Windows NT Advanced Server version 3.1. We are researching this
problem and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge
Base as it becomes available.
