- Microsoft Office for Windows 95 7.0a
- Microsoft Office for Windows 95 7.0b
This article was previously published under Q102225 SYMPTOMS
You can launch multiple instances of Microsoft System Info from
Publisher and the Office 95 programs. This is not useful and can
consume some Graphics Device Interface Module (GDI) resources and
memory. Also, Publisher does not automatically close all the opened
instances of Microsoft System Info when you quit Publisher. After
quitting Publisher, you must close each of the extra Microsoft System
Info windows manually.
NOTE: In Windows 95, the task bar shows all the extra instances of
System Info.
CAUSE
When you click the System Info button in the About dialog box, you are
starting a separate program called Microsoft System Info. Microsoft System
Info, versions 2.0 and earlier, are multi-session programs; you can run
more than one copy simultaneously.
NOTE: Microsoft Office 97 for Windows includes Microsoft System Info,
version 2.51. This version of Microsoft System Info is not a multi-
session program; you can only run one copy at once.
STATUS
Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products
listed at the beginning of this article. This problem was corrected in Microsoft
Office 97 for Windows.
