I'm curious to know how many people have tried them. Also, if you have any cool weapon ideas, drop me an e-mail. If I'm not busy, maybe I'll give your suggestion a try... Special Thanks -------------- PVP, from which I "borrowed" some code from the BOMBS9 QuakeC patch for Storm Bomb. Type of Mod ----------- Quake C : yes Sound : yes MDL : no Format of QuakeC ---------------- unified diff : no context diff : no .qc files : yes progs.dat : yes Description of the Modification ------------------------------- Storm Bomb Storm Bomb is a (fully networkable, I hope) QuakeC patch that enables an extra grenade launcher mode. A grenade is released, after a few bounces it launches a rocket up into the air and explodes. This releases Storm Chaser rockets, one for each visible enemy. Each Storm Chaser's direction is towards its respected target. As it travels, it fires lightning towards its enemy, pulling the enemy (tractor beam style) towards the rocket. After 4 or 5 second, boom, the Chasers blow up. Each Storm Bomb launched takes 5 rockets. Note that if no enemy is visible to the Storm Bomb, no Chasers will be released. Also note that no damage is done to the enemy during the lightning phase. Tornado Bomb Tornado Bomb is a (fully networkable, I hope) QuakeC patch that enables 2 extra grenade launcher modeS. A grenade is released, after a few bounces, the bomb starts spinning in a circle, slowly rising upwards. As the bomb rises, a "tornado" is created. Any nearby monsters are drawn into the tornado, experiencing pain. Hey, such is life. Tornado Bomb has 2 modes. The second one does not drop tornado stuff and should be used on slower machines. To quickly check out this patch use 'impulse 9' console command to get ammo and weapons then use the '6' key to switch between grenade launcher modes. Also you can bind "impulse 20" for the Storm Bomb. How to Install the Modification ------------------------------- Installation: 1) Unzip TORNADO.ZIP into a temporary directory. 2) Create a TORNADO directory under your QUAKE directory. 3) Create a SOUND directory under your QUAKE\ID1 directory, if it does not already exist. 4) Copy the PROGS.DAT file to the QUAKE\TORNADO directory. 5) Copy the SHITIN.WAV file to your QUAKE\ID1\SOUND directory. 6) Change directory to your QUAKE directory. 7) Run QUAKE using the following command line: quake -game tornado Storm Bomb Technical Details ---------------------------- Storm Bomb Known Bugs: You will get a beam list overflow message if too many Chasers are targeting many monsters. Storm Bomb Bug / Feature: Firing another Storm Bomb, while existing Chasers are doing their thing, will detonate all of the Chasers prior to their normal 4 second existance. This can be useful !! Storm Bomb History: 1.1 - Fixed code so chasers will not go through walls. Also, only 2 bombs max. can be fired at any given time. 1.0 - Initial release. Tornado Bomb Technical Details ------------------------------ Tornado Bomb Known Bugs: None Tornado Bomb History: 1.0 - Initial release.
