Mines by Jony A Quake v1.08 Addon AUTHOR: You can contact me at trevalayan@hotmail.com with comments, your own PAK or QuakeC programming questions and solutions. WHAT IS IT: Mines is an addon for Quake allowing the use of mines within the game. There are three type of mines available: - Proximity Mines - Remote Mines - Timed Mines Proximity Mines detonate when monsters, players or other mines get close enough. Remote Mines detonate when you hit the trigger. Timed Mines detonate after 3 seconds. If you are familiar will Goldeneye on the N64, then the mines work almost the same. The only difference is with their interaction with doors, and you CAN plant Mines on monsters and players. INSTALLATION: Make a directory within your Quake directory named 'mines'. Copy the Progs.dat file into this directory. Run Quake with the command line: Quake -game mines or use Quake Launcher. EXAMPLE: Your Quake Directory: C:\Games\Quake Create Directory: C:\Games\Quake\Mines Copy Progs.dat: C:\Games\Quake\Mines\Progs.dat Run: C:\Games\Quake\Quake.exe -game mines USE: Bring the console down (~), type IMPULSE 100 and press . After pressing ~ again, this will bring up a short summary of usage. To select the mines press 6, to select the grenade launcher. Then continue to press 6 to cycle through the mines and the grenade launcher. You can only use mines once you have the grenade launcher and rockets available. One Mine uses on rocket. The Mines can also be bound to a particular key. To bind to a key bring the console down and type: BIND "IMPULSE x" where is the key you want and x is the impulse number for the Mine. The impulse numbers for the Mines are: 101 = Proximity Mine 102 = Remote Mine 103 = Remote Mine Trigger 104 = Timed Mine EXAMPLE: Bring the console down (~) Type 'BIND R "IMPULSE 102"' Type 'BIND D "IMPULSE 103"' Put console back up. In game when you get the grenade launcher and some rockets, hit 'R', a Remote Mine will be released, hit 'D' and it will detonate. FEATURES: Mines will stick to monsters, walls, switches and even PLAYERS! Yes, in a deathmatch battle you can throw a Mine on your opponents back, detonate and watch their arse divide like never before! Proximity Mines will not do this as they are intended to be hidden as a trap and not used in fast combat. Use of Timed Mines is best if you are a good shot, otherwhise plant a Remote, get the hell out of their and detonate. Be careful not to plant a Timed Mine on a monster such as a dog, or demon as these attack at close range, when the Mine blows, most likely you will too. Mines are more powerful than grenades so look out! You will also get told when you get a Mine planted on you. There is not much you can do about it but you will at least know you're about to die. If you plant a few Remote Mines and then die, when you regenerate you will still be able to detonate them! Be warned: Mines do not discriminate, if you plant one and then it blows while you're still nearby, ow! Proximity Mines will only blow up if there is no walls between the object that enter the proximity. This is done for two reasons: damage is not done if there is any walls between them so there is no point in blowing up, and so mines can be placed on opposite sides of a wall without setting off each other.
