Give that doggie a bone! - A QuakeC patch by Darin McNeil - 8/31/96 I. What does it do? For my first venture into QuakeC, I'd thought I'd do something entertaining. This patch lets you stuff a grenade inside a piece of meat and toss it, even through teleporters!. Dogs just go crazy over that WinnDixie brand beef. They (only dogs) will stop whatever they're doing and chase the piece of meat. When they start chewing on it . . . BOOM! . . . Kibbles & bit & bits & bits. II. Usage To use this patch, create a directory under you Quake directory, and unzip/copy all files to that directory. On my machine it is c:\quake\bone'. When you start Quake, use the -game parameter and specify the directory you put all the files in. I type 'Quake -game bone +exec bone.cfg' to start a game. The file 'bone.cfg' binds the letter 'b' to impulse 20 to throw a bone. You may change the letter by altering the .cfg file, or from the console (bind "impulse 20"). I included the source to the two files changed (weapons.qc and dog.qc). III. Thanks I learned QuakeC by looking through id's code (being a CompSci student didn't hurt either), which they freely distributed. I can't thank id Software enough for their efforts in making a game that rules the Cosmos. I also learned tips by examining patches made by other people, especially Wedge(Steve Bond) at Quake Command. Special thanks to my girlfriend, Kim, for putting up with my Quake Madness.
