=================================================================== BUNGY CORD VERISON 1.10 by Jeff Lee Portions written by: ThreeWave - Administration code The Grappling Hook Guy - The original grapple code! (and this doc!) =================================================================== Instructions: 1. Store the progs.dat file in any subdirectoy of your Quake program directory EXCEPT the \id1 subdirectory. (Storing this program in the \id1 subdirectory will result in it getting pre-empted by the progs.dat file in the Quake .PAK file.) 2. Store the included map, BUNGY.BSP in your \id1\maps directory. If you don't have that directory, make it! =) 3. Start up Quake using the -game parameter to indicate which subdirectory the progs.dat file is stored under. For example, if Quake is in C:\QUAKE and the new progs.dat file is in C:\QUAKE\BUNGY, you would use the following command line for Quake: QUAKE -game BUNGY 4. You can load up any level of QUAKE you like, but I suggest the level I provide, BUNGY.MAP. Load it up by first entering the console, and typing in MAP BUNGY. 5. Now, set up your bungy! Hit the "INS" key to set the bungees length. Type in 4 digits, and 1 extra digit which is not used. A total of 5 digits are typed in. If you'd like to have a value of something like 50, you have to type in the 0s in the beginning. So, 50 would be 0050, then the 1 extra digit. ** GOOD VALUE: 1000 ** 6. Set up your bungy bounce back rate! Hit the "HOME" key and type in 5 digits, with 1 extra, for a total of 6 digits. Follow the same format as above. ** GOOD VALUE: 00100 ** 7. Switch to your bungee by either binding IMPULSE 21 or changing to your axe twice (i.e. hit 1 twice) QUAKE will tell you that you are in BUNGY MODE. Fire the bungy at a wall. It'll stick there. Don't let go of the mouse button, and fall off the edge. Look down. You're BUNGEEING! NOTE: I have NOT tested this weapon in Deathmatch/Co-op mode. Firing the hook into another player seems to have the same effect as firing it into a monster, but until more extensive testing is done, anything could happens (and probably will). IMPULSES ======== Impulse 150 = Set bungy cord length Impulse 151 = Set bungy cord bounce back value Impulse 152 = View bungy cord information Uses ==== As far as I know, none. It's just fun to play with. Would you use this in DeathMatch? I doubt it, unless you like being fragged. Problems ======== Known problems in Verison 1.00: - Physics are not accurate. This was a quick hack, and I haven't taken college physics yet. HS physics is not enough Find any bugs? EMAIL ME! Any suggestions? EMAIL ME! Have formulas? EMAIL ME! Want source? EMAIL ME!\ "Jeff Lee (Gonzo)" or "Jeff Lee (Gonzo)" Fixes ===== In version 1.10 --------------- - Fixed the floating bug. You no longer float when you throw the bung cord below you. - A little physics is fixed. When you let go of the cord, you don't just stop in mid air... you keep on going in the direction you were flying About me ======== Well, it's late at night now, so I don't feel like writing much. Hmmm.. basic stuff. I'm a Freshman at Johns Hopkins University... ummm.. I need money. I love Quake... Ummm.. I need money.. Did I mention I need money? =P
