Changes to Quake v1.01 by Asmodeus (Shawn Kohlsmith) Version 1.1 Disclaimer ---------- Shawn Kohlsmith is not responsible for anything bad that happens. If it's good, then I'm probably responsible. ;) How to Install -------------- 1. Make a directory (for instance, called 'asmo') off of your quake directory. 2. Unzip the .zip file into that directory with the -d option (so that it makes the subdirectory 'progs'). 3. Go to your Quake directory 4. Run quake with the -game paramater. For instance, to continue the example above, you would type: 'quake -game asmo' (without the quotes) What's Changed? --------------- - Ogres have limited ammo. When they run out of ammo, they try to chainsaw you. They also aim a little higher and lower than they did (not perfect, but somewhat better than the origional). - Monsters that already give backpacks (soldiers, ogres, enforcers) now give you whatever ammo is left (in the case of the ogre), or a random amount (for the soldier/enforcer). - The three monsters with backpacks also pick up everything except runes and weapons. You get what they didn't use up via the backpack. You can get damaged armor this way. - Pipe Bombs. Bind a key to "impulse 61" to throw a pipebomb (selected weapon doesn't matter), and bind another key to "impulse 62" to detonate any pipebombs of yours (there is a maximum range). When you die, all your pipebombs go kablooey. - Solid, gibbable, moveable corpses. You can push them off of platforms, jump on them, or just blow them up, which gives you - Solid gibbable, moveable heads. Heads only take 1 shot to kill. - Kicking. You can kick anything that lives, corpses, and heads. Just bind a key to "impulse 120". You can get a cool game of soccer with this and a head. ;) (Hint: if you hit your kick button really fast, you can get some incredible height on your kicks) - In Deathmatch games, players cannot change their colours unless they just died, and are awaiting respawning (when your view is skewed sideways). Thank You's ----------- - Everyone on #quakec (Undernet) Especially Revenant, Fuschnick and Synger. - Everyone who has released code for QuakeC (not just progs.dat). - Id Software for making such a cool, modifiable game. - 3D Realms for ideas from Duke Nukem 3D. - Everyone who said I was morbid because I also wanted to kick heads around.
