MDL : yes Levels : yes Contents of this modification ------------------------------- 1x A 12 Minute 45 Second movie (in 3 parts) 2x Xmas Quake Levels - both with co-op and deathmatch starts, variable difficulty settings and all optimized for GLQUAKE. Storyline --------- Rogue 1 and Rogue 2 were relaxing in Hawaii after just having defeated Shub-Niggurath and her evil minions, when a distress signal comes through from the north pole - Santa Claus had been captured!! He has been replaced by the evil Shambler Claus, who had devised a fiendish plan to pervert the worlds children. Our two heroes grabbed their trusty nailguns, cells, rockets and headed north to kick some ass. Notes ----- It was our intention for you to watch the movie first then play the levels, please do so in this order as it is near impossible to complete the Xmas levels without watching the movie for hints first. How to Install the Modification ------------------------------- Create a directory called XMAS as a subdirectory in your Quake directory Unzip this zip file into your new Xmas directory using PKUNZIP. From your quake directory type "quake -game xmas" (without the speechmarks) in lower case. You could replace any quake executable into the above line i.e for GLQuake: "glquake -game xmas". It is also recommended to use the "-winmem 16" switch after the executable if your computer has the required amount of ram NOTE: This movie is best viewed in high resolution SVGA (640x480), otherwise the text may appear incorrectly on the screen. Details ------- When you run Xmas Quake the movie will start automatically. When the movie is finished it will start a new game, placing you at the start of the Lapland level. If you don't want to watch the movie or have already seen it when running Xmas Quake you can select start new game from the main menu to start a new Xmas Quake session. NOTE: The demos and levels have been split up because of certain limitations we found with the Quake engine. (And because it's impossible to act perfectly for that amount of time!) The problem occurs during the 2nd movie segment, a slight hall over mirrors effect is noticeable for about 1/2 a second as the players turn the corner at the start of the movie. This seems to be a fault in the later GLQuake releases, we apologies for this inconsistency but can not determine a fix at this time.
