Sunday, 6th April 1997 ========================================================================================= Title : PRODIGY FOUR Filename : pak0.pak Author : Dario Casali Email Address : dario@casali.demon.co.uk Homepage : http://www.casali.demon.co.uk/dario/home.html Description : This is the third and final outing in the Prodigy series of single player Quake levels. Your quest takes place in an unworldly citadel which holds a Rune artefact of immeasurable value. You must simply locate and collect this before leaving the complex in the transportation portal provided nearby the Rune. Co-op play has been catered for - you'll need some friends on hard and nightmare. Easy skill is a breeze, normal is best for all but the cream of Quakedom. How to load Prodigy Four: 1) Create a directory called "quake\prodigy4\" 2) Put PAK0.PAK in this directory 3) Type "quake -game prodigy4" 4) When in Quake, bring down the console and type: map p4start Only the astute adventurer will unlock the final portal. I need a PAK file because I have three maps and two new ambient sound effects. (see below for details on secret map) Additional Credits to : Yahn Bernier for BSP - a very good editor : The Prodigy for providing us with the best techno funk on earth. (PAK includes excerpt from "Firestarter") Info about the Author : I graduated from Oxford University last summer and created Doom levels for three years before converting to Quake. I enjoy toasting all other players in deathmatches inside my own levels. No-one I have ever met can beat me in my own level (har har...) Other Levels by Author : 16 levels in The Plutonia Experiment, Final Doom. 4 levels in Evilution, Final Doom. Over 50 levels for Doom and Doom2, inlcuding "The Punisher" and "Thebest" deathmatch levels. For Quake : DCDM1, DCDM2, DCDM3, DCDM4, DCDM5 PRODIGY ONE, PRODIGY TWO Author's plug : I'm now working for a formidable new games company that will be making games with the Quake2 engine, so if you like this level, look out for us: Valve Software. ========================================================================================= * Play Information * Single Player : Yes - heap big challenge. Cooperative : Yes - bring some friends for the harder skill settings. Deathmatch : No - get my DCDM levels instead. * Construction * Base : Rebel Editor(s) used : BSP, latest release. Build Time : 9 days total Texture Wad used : quaketex.wad (with many many custom patches added) Compile machine : Pentium Pro 200, 64mb RAM, 10ms 3Gb HDD QBSP Time : 5 mins 56 secs Light (-extra) Time : 16 mins 21 secs VIS (-level 4) Time : 21 mins 44 secs Brushes : 2456 total (three maps) Entities : 967 total (three maps) * Other Info * If you are nosy, you may find the secret level that is the third map. It's no use just looking up the name of the bsp file in the PAK and then warping to it because you won't last five seconds. The only way to survive the gruesome battle arena is to grab the 150% armour and tank up on health before you enter. Then take out the grunts and the dogs with rockets. The enforcer needs the supernailgun but go back to rockets for the knights, you don't want to waste nails and cells on them. Now it's up to you - if you make it out alive you are a true Quake master and deserve to bounce your ego all over the world. If you can make a demo, then send it to me. ps. this map is a total riot in co-op mode! * Copyright / Permissions * Authors MAY NOT use this level as a base to build additional levels, (ie don't put it in your multi-level episode and claim it's yours). Authors may take brushes out of the MAP file and use them in their levels, but to get the MAP file, you'll have to go to my homepage. This BSP may be distributed ONLY over the Internet and/or BBS systems. You are NOT authorized to put this BSP or it's MAP file, or any part of either on any CD or distribute it in any other way without my permission. You may not distribute screen shots of this level in any form unless my name is credited.
