Tuesday 11th February, 1997 ========================================================================================= Title : PRODIGY TWO - THE EBONY SHRINE Filename : prodigy2.bsp Author : Dario Casali Email Address : dario@casali.demon.co.uk Homepage : http://www.casali.demon.co.uk/dario/home.html Description : This is the successor to the widely popular "Prodigy One" and has taken single player Quaking to new levels of toughness. Some information about how to complete the level - 1) You must obtain the coveted Ebony Rune artefact that is held within the confines of fiercly protected shrine. Then make use of the teleporter on the shrine's doorstep to take you back to your ship. 2) To gain access to this most Holy of shrines, you must first open the great doors by deactivating the Runelock. 4) The occupants of this planet have been foolish enough to leave open access to their weaponary, ammunition and healing kits of which you must make use as this time, your ship offers you no weapons of your own. 5) Word has it that if any outlander removes the Rune from its pedestal, It causes the previous keepers to self-mutilate... You will notice that there is no ship in this level - QBSP runs into a clip planes limit so I couldn't include it. Is this the largest single level Quake can handle then??? Some information on loading the level - 1) Create a directory called "quake\prodigy\" 2) Put PAK0.pak in this directory 3) Put P2.BAT in the quake directory 4) Type P2 XXX (XXX is the skill setting you want 0-2) 5) eg. "P2 1" starts Prodigy2 at normal skill Tactics : Skill 3 (nightmare) is for satans of speed. The swiftest dispatch of all that lives will grant the titan the crown of the Ebony Shrine. Skill 2 (hard) is for the masters indeed. The challenge is great and the chance of survival slight. Skill 1 (normal) is for the harbers of greed. They want more killing but yet are slayed themselves. Skill 0 (easy) is for the mice that bleed. None so small may be adorned with the crown of victory. The Ebony Shrine has been specifically built to cater for the the most diehard Quake players, and as such, the skill levels vary from tough to certain death. I hate a level that dries up on the first attempt, with no more challenge to offer. It also helps to have some heavy duty machinery to run the game on. You need 10 megs free memory to start with. Additional Credits to : Yahn Bernier for BSP - a very good editor : The Prodigy for providing us with the best techno funk on earth. ("Their Law" from the albumn "Music for the Gilted Generation") : Jeff Yost and Marc Wensell for the computing power to VIS this level - it would have been unplayable without these guys. Info about the Author : I graduated from Oxford University last summer and created Doom levels for three years before converting to Quake. I enjoy toasting all other players in deathmatches inside my own levels. No-one I have ever met can beat me in my own level (har har...)
