Let me know. Note, the map size may make it difficult play on an 8mb machine. Untested. Build Time : Lost track of hours, much of which went into texture alignment. It didn't help that I totally redid some of the rooms. Texture Wad used : Base, plus a wad of some textures I created from scratch, or modified from existing textures. Compile machine : P100 w/ 32MB RAM QBSP Time : 1192 sec Light (-extra) Time : 5760 VIS (-level 4) Time : 11259 Brushes : 1739 Entities : 570 Models : 88 * Other Info * I had the misfortune of releasing this map on the same day Quake 2 test was released. My level looks pretty anemic compared to The Q2 base :) This was my first attempt at a base style level. Probably my last. The texture alignment is very unforgiving as compared to other style levels I have made. I probably could have completed two other levels in the time it took me to make this level. Also, you are somewhat limited in the monster selection, in order to keep to a believable theme. It's hard to explain a vore in a military base. Because of map size, you may have to run this map with the -winmem 10 command if it chokes on your system. THE STORY SO FAR... "Can’t you fly this thing a little straighter?", I complained after having another storage container heave itself up against me for the third time. "Sure I can," Inok replied, "if you don’t mind me taking one of those surface to air missiles up the tailpipe. You wanna take a turn trying to fly this thing?" Hey, I wasn’t really complaining, just whining to take my mind off this fiasco. 6 of 10 planes lost in just 5 minutes had me a little on edge. Harm’s Way, built as a top secret research facility, had been kept hush hush since it’s completion. No one knew what kind of garbage those snot nosed scientists were working on. Rumors you heard about the stuff they did came right out of Star Trek, so you had to take them with a grain of salt. Stories of cloning, gene manipulation and the like were fun to joke about over a few beer, but didn’t make them true. But given the last two days' events, you never knew. Central Command had lost contact with the Harm’s Way installation 2 days ago. Because of the high security surrounding the facility, it had been constructed with no landing facilities. The only way in or out was through a series of teleport jumps. However, when CC tried to send an investigator through the teleport yesterday, a small clump of congealed flesh and hair fell back out of the teleport a few seconds later. A second attempt had not been made. It had been decided to take the installation by force. The plan was to blast a hole in the roof of the facility, and have a team of men parachute in and retake the facility. That team of men was getting smaller by the second, with 6 ships already shot down. It would appear that those scientists had also been working on military research as well, as the accuracy of their surface to air missiles seemed to indicate. If only... The ship took a sudden dive as Inok avoided another missile. A loud explosion rocked the ship as one of the wingmen’s ships was impacted by the missile. Make that 7 ships gone. Well, I’d be going in armed to the teeth, if that was any consolation. A rocket launcher and grenade launcher should take care of most resistance. The sweet sound of a missile detaching and sent merrily towards it’s target sounded in my ears as Inok let loose a missile toward the facility. This was the closest we had been able to get to the place. Inok really was the best pilot in the force. "Yeee-hawww!" Inok yelled as the explosion sounded. Our missile had made a direct hit, and debris and dust rose in the air from the roof of the facility. "You ready to go dude?" he asked me. As ready as I’m ever gonna be, I thought as I moved toward the back of the ship to gather up my weapons. I had just laid my hands around my trusty shotgun, and was reaching for the grenade launcher, when the ship banked up sharply, setting me on my back. A ball of fire, and a ear shattering boom, and the next thing I knew I was staring at sky. The back of the ship had been blown away. The ship was shuttering violently. "I think I can keep it airborne long enough to get above the hole I blew in the roof," Inok yelled back. "You gotta do it now, we ain't gonna get a second chance." Why I hadn’t been wearing my parachute from the start, I’ll never know, but now it was gone with all my high powered weapons, wherever the tail end of the ship had been blasted too. "Get in as low as you can, Inok, I gotta make this jump without a chute." Inok actually turned in his seat to look at me. He smiled, "No problem man, shouldn’t be too difficult to get right where you want, without a tail end, and trying to avoid missiles at the same time. Sheeeet man." I laughed to myself, if anyone could get me that close, Inok could. We approached the opening. I had to time this just right. "Been nice knowing you man," Inok called as I leaped out of the ship. Last thing I saw as I fell through the opening into Harm’s Way was Inok and his ship going up in a ball of flames as it smashed into the cliff face. "Nice knowing you too, pal."
