5th April 1998 ==================================================================== title : For My Babies 3 by Dad ==================================================================== filename : fmb3.bsp version : Just one author : Mike Woodham contact : e-mail: MikeWoodham@msn.com homepage : description : small, single player only level additional credits to : -id- Software : Deadmeat at www.bsphq.com for the tutorials : Kristie for play-testing ==================================================================== * play information * single player : Yes cooperative : Nope deathmatch : Nope demos replaced : too clever for me new graphics : how do you do it? new sounds : I screamed a lot new monsters/weapons : what's wrong with ID's? * construction * base : new level from scratch editor used : BSP v0.77 build time : Bloody ages! Again! Don't you just hate it when people say things like " a weekend" or "20 hours" in this section? compile time : qbsp = 10 mins light -extra = 11 mins vis -level 4 = 90 mins known bugs : This level was not designed for speed. It may run slow on lower spec machines. Also, it was designed by a stick-in-the-mud keyboard player who has not yet mastered a mouse in Quake. You 'mouse magicians' may find Hard a little too easy. If so, I can only apologise: me and the kids like it!! * how to * Unzip all files into your Quake\id1\maps directory. Start Quake and bring down the console. Type MAP FMB3_ST and you will go to the start level allowing you to choose Easy or Hard. The main level will then load and away you go! ==================================================================== Other information: total brushes : 1650 total monsters : 64 on easy, 112 on hard total secrets : 5 scattered throughout the level; none too difficult, all with a small reward wad used : Quake101.wad compile machine : Mesh 133M Pentium, 32M RAM ==================================================================== There seems to be a shortage of good ol' Quake 1 levels now that Quake 2 is out. I don't like Quake 2, I don't think it has half the atmosphere that Quake 1 has: it's too "samey". Mind you, only you can judge whether or not I have managed to provide any 'atmosphere' with this level. Why don't you let me know? But look, I don't want to argue Quake 1 versus Quake 2. It's just an opinion. I'm sure once we start seeing new skins and get away from the techno-style monsters everything will be just fine:-) ==================================================================== * legal stuff * You may distribute the fmb3.bsp file as long as you include this text file with it.
