Title : Porsche Car for QuakeRally Filename : porsche.zip Version : Beta .09 Date : 08/25/97 Author : Cameron Spencer (Ned) Email : nedflander@geocities.com Credits : Id (hurry up with quake2), Ridah, Sumaleth and the rest of the QR team, www.porsche.com, ME! Type of Mod ----------- Quake C : no Sound : yes (in future release) MDL : yes Description of the Modification ------------------------------- READ THIS WHOLE TEXT FILE BEFORE YOU EMAIL ME WITH "so and so says it sucks or doesn't work..." Well howdly ho everybody! ============== Intro ============== This is the first release of the Porsche for QuakeRally. This thing took some serious time and I hope you like it as much as I do. First of all when you play this thing it may have some serious ugly colors. These can be changed under setup/multiplayer menu. I really didn't want to make the car color-changeable but ALOT of people emailed me complaining about it so I gave in. This results in only about 3-4 colors looking good, but I guess it's better than one, huh? The shirt color changes the trim on the car and the pants changes the body. This model also looks very bad at resolutions under 512x384, so do your self a favor and jack up the resolution to see all the detail. ============== What I learned ============== I learned alot during this porject including many features of photoshop and qME that were very helpful. Many of you have emailed asking what programs I've used, etc. So I will tell you. *TrueSpace2 - I used this program for the modeling and proportioning. *PhotoShop 4.0 - I love this program! This program is the end to all paint programs, even though many of the features are not usable on quake's palette, it's a lifesaver nonetheless. *qME 3.0 - This program drove me crazy in the beginning and was the main holdup of the porsche. This is because I was constantly learning it and finding out how to manipulate objects etc. I also learned that quake modeling takes some serious time and I have an appreciation for Kevin and Adrian's work. I also found that I really despise quake's palette, it's really hard to get good shading when your using 8-bit and 238 colors. My future projects will be much improved because of the knowledge I have know. If you have any questions, comments please send them to "nedflander@geocities.com" Known bugs * The model has some holes... I know I know! * The wheels don't turn or don't look right... I know I know! How to Install the Modification ------------------------------- Okay here we go nice and easy like. 1) unpack all the QR .pak files with a utility like winpack 2) copy these models (.mdl) into the rally/models directory *you may have to delete the pak files once you've unpacked them 3) run the game Author Information ------------------ This is my first mdl project for Quake, although I'm constantly finding flaws with it... Copyright and Distribution Permissions -------------------------------------- I don't really have any copyright restrictions on this add-on simply because I based this model on QR's 4WD hatchback. However I have full copyright on the skin, which you may not use or base anything on without my permission.
