Title : The Creep a.k.a. Making a model can be done with Breeze Designer 2.0 Filename : Creep.zip Version : 0.1 Alpha Date : 08/10/97 Author : Axe-Boy (Not that I really wanna take credit for this :) ) Email : drakellj@kode.net Homepage : Axe-Boy's House - http://kode.net/~drakellj/axe-boy.htm Credits : id (of course) : Neville Richards - Creator of Breeze Designer 2.0 : Brian K. Martin - for Meddle 1.7 : Rene Post - for QuakeMe Ver. 3.0 Public Beta 1 : Tyler Lawson - for Surfix 2 : Bubbah - For *THE* source for making models "Bubbah's Models for Quake" http://www.worldaccess.nl/~yue/mdl.htm. And for being extremely helpful. Build time : I won't even go there (it would make this release seem even more pitiful...:) ) Note: This *WAS* my initial, *ALMOST* diehard attempt at making a Quake Model using Breeze Designer 2.0. This file includes only the frames of animation for the monster, but nothing else!!! THIS IS MADE AVAILABLE ONLY FOR VIEWING WITH A MODEL EDITOR!!! THIS IS NOT A NEW MONSTER FOR QUAKE!!! I am not going to continue with this project, (unless I get enough response from this) but I'm releasing what I have finished so far as a testament that you can make new models using Breeze Designer 2.0. Type of Mod ----------- Quake C : no Sound : no MDL : yes (sort of) Format of QuakeC (if a Quake C Mod) ----------------------------------- unified diff : uhhh.... what? context diff : uhhh.... huh huh... I dunno? .qc files : heck no... progs.dat : nope.... How to Install the Modification ------------------------------- Nothing to install here. Just load up the .MDL file in a Model viewer like Meddle or QuakeMe and see with your own eye's that you can make a new Quake Monster using Breeze Designer 2.0. Those aren't Bugs.... They're features!!!! ------------------------------------------ Needs better Model :) Animation needs to be smoother :) Kness should only bend in one direction (it's a monster... O.K.? Maybe having knees that bend in both directiosn is part of being a Creep!!! :) ) I plan on doing another monster in the future, and *MAY* reprise the Creep if I get enough response to it. So here are some things that I know I could have improved upon, so you don't have to E-Mail me about them in particular (unless you just sadistic :) ). Author Information ------------------ This was my first *REAL* attempt at making a Quake Monster. I had been looking into making a new monster for quite a while, but it seemed impossible without an expensive 3D Modeller (such as 3D Studio). Using Breeze Designer was impossible in the begining. Though, as time went by, work-arounds to the problems in Breeze were found, and I started on this project as a *TEST*. I though I would just start off with a simple base model with one cool feature, and quickly whip up a monster. As time went by, I started spending more time on the Creep (as I recently dubbed it) and realized that this had grown from a test, into the real thing. Many factors made this process difficult, including: The bugs in Breeze and my inexperience in 3D Modelling and animation. In lieu of the release of the QuakeMe Public Beta and after taking a look at what I have so far, I can't justify spend more time on it. It just looks too, rough edged, figurativley and litterally. The *ONLY* reasons why I am releasing this *INCOMPLETE* .MDL file is: 1. To prove that it is possible to make a new Quake monster with Breeze Designer 2.0. 2. I hate when someone dosen't finish a project, and then don't release their unfinished work, even though there may be people who want to see, or could actually use their unfinished work (it's the author's choice of course, but it's just something that urks me). 3. Hopefully this will inspire others too make Quake monsters even if they don't have an expensive 3D Modeller (QuakeMe 3.0 is awesome even in Beta?!? Can't wait till it's full release...) Hopefully I will have a Faq or a tutorial on making monsters using Breeze (although it seems that QuakeMe has the potential to eliminate the need of using Breeze all together) up by 2-17-97 at http://kode.net/~drakellj/axe-boy.htm (which is currently under heavy constuction. Distribution Permissions -------------------------------------- You may distribute this Quake modification in as long as all the files in this archive remain unmodified (although I don't see why you would want too :)
