Greetings, fellow Doom and DII addicts! This is the sequel to my previous, and apparently well-received, version of Reddot. I have gotten a lot of requests for a program of the same ilk to be made for DII. I totally understand this. There are enough levels in DooM that really make use of Reddot, let alone the new great ones in DII. Sorry it's taken me so long to get this out. If you wrote me and didn't get a response, I probably didn't have the time to write, or my old address was shut down (I switched servers). I upgraded this version slightly. Apparently, having the dot on the 'immediate damage' weapons (lead-slingers) wasn't enough. So I have added the dot in DII to almost all the weapons instead of a select few. Yes, this even includes the BFG, you maniacs. Personally, I don't really have a use for it, and left the installation out of the main reddot .bat file, but made a separate one for the BFG instead. The only weapon that I didn't add the dot to was the fist. Although, I'm sure I'm gonna get requests for that, too. Go figure. This version of reddot is made for and tested in DII ver. 1.9 Installation is simple, like the last time. - Unzip reddot2.zip into your DOOM2 directory with all the other stuff. - Type redin2 to install the graphics files into your D2 wad. That's it! The program will automatically save your original .wad files so you can remove the dot anytime you like. But, again, I recommend always keeping a backup of your .wad somewhere (even though it takes a lot of space) just in case of emergencies. To uninstall the dot is just as simple. - Type redout2 The program will place the original D2 wad files back in their proper place, and delete the extra graphics files that the installation program extracts in the beginning. To install the BFG dot: - Type redinbfg To uninstall: - Type redoutbf Just about all the files contained in the package begin with 'red', so if you want to delete them all later, they should be easy to find. To make this program, I used the latest version of the program I used last time: DMGRAPH by Bill Neisius (bill@solaria.hac.com) This is a wonderfully easy program, and I give my many thanks to Bill for his efforts! I have included this program just in case you do not have it yet so you don't have to go rummaging around on the net to find it after getting this. You have to have this program for mine to work. I have tested and retested this program and can find no flaws in it to date. I use a 486/66 w/350m HD, 20m RAM, QEMM 7.03, and DOS 6. I assume no responsibility for problems or loss of data in connection with this program. If you have any questions, comments, or requests (will be considered...), my new address is as follows: hoss.@ix.netcom.com Thanks for your support of the initial reddot! Hoss
